Just as the european wine industry experienced strain and growing pains as united states wine producers gained world accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market realities that they are no longer the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality. In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that suggests ) won’t, can not return Cuba to its glory days. The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in a number of the states mentioned above, and there isn’t any indication that they can go into bankruptcy if the embargo is lifted. They are gaining notoriety and accolades for producing quality products that the U. S. cigar aficionado has grown to accept and love.

February 10th, 2010Just a Couple Days to the Smoking Prohibition
December 29th, 2009All Right, St. Louis has adopted a smoking ban for all restaurants and bars, with only minimum allowances. I am so sick and tired of my legal rights dwindling down, I am fed up. I cannot fathom the reason non-smokers have such a sharp opinion on what we smokers want to do. Everyone knows that smoking is unhealthy, but I made a conscience decision when I began smoking, alert to the fact it was unhealthy. Just because non-smokers want me to cease, won’t mean that it is going to happen. Smoking in pubs has been a privilage, but most restaurants have a special smoking room. If you don’t want to inhale the smoke, don’t eat in the smoking room, you are not coerced to sit in smoking. And as far as the workers of these bars that argue they are affected by second hand smoke, I don’t believe it. I worked in the service industry for over 10 years, and I know that the majority of thefellow workers were smokers. Doing business with the public, always, drives you to puff. Personally, I have never overheard any non-smoking co-worker ever whine about smoking while at work in the smoking room. Putting a smoking restriction in restaurants and bars, ultimately will only save me money, for I will not eat out after the the new year.
All I need for the holiday: Smokes!
December 18th, 2009I have choose this christmas to plead for basic Christmas Gifts that my wife can determine comfortably for me. My first choice, as always, is my favored cigar from dr-grabow-pipes.com. My wife doesn’t even have to leave the home, she can go online (I have all my favorites sites saved) and make out the order there. As far as anything else, she can go to the nearest retailer and pick out a gift. She debates every holiday that I am the most difficult guy to shop for. But we have been married for over 15 years! And if she doesn’t know the things I admire by now, I just don’t know. I continuously articulate every December, “I want smokes”, I smoke 1 or 2 per day, and that adds up. I bought a humidor for keeping my smokes, “what’s that for?” my wife askes. Well my love, it’s to keep my cigars green as grass. So, if you get me stogies for the holiday I can hold them in the humidor for a few months and remove one when I am wishing to savor one. Although I have to say, I got blessed with luck last year, my wife purchased me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The prior year, she got me a fishing pole, without thinking I said I wanted to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing once after that, but guess what, I still smoke 1-2 smokes a day. Well what do I want for christmas this year? I want Smokes, and anything else would just be an secondary pleasure.
Tobacco: Guide for the typical tobacco smoker
November 10th, 2009The typical method of identifying cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The beginner smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as Garcia Vega. However, the aspiring connoisseur should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold online or at a local tobacconist.
Daily Smokers Vs Connoisseurs
TypicalIndividual cigar smokers have their own unique tastes, and have their own individual financial constraints. Those who are smoking several cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is inexpensive. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very appealing to some smokers. However, to the new smoker or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every cent.
